MEET THE CHICKEN FARMER

About Piddle Valley Chicken

Piddle Valley Chickens was established several years ago by Kevin Froud, a Dorset born third generation farmer. Kev grew up in the village of Woodlands near Wimborne and from a young age showed an interest in all things feathered keeping his own chicken, ducks and even quail. When Kev was about 10 years old he ran his own successful enterprise selling “Kev’s eggs” and would deliver in the local area on his bicycle with his trusty hen ‘Posh Spice’ perched on the handle bars. In later years Kev attended Sparsholt College to study Game Keeping and the Ecology of Deer going on the secure employment on Sandringham estate. Kev’s passion for poultry never faded and now with the help of his father Malcom, wife Jenna and their Labradors (Nettle, Barley & Willow) Kev produces birds of the highest quality that have even been endorsed on more than one occasion in the Telegraph by local food writer Rose Prince!

Kev’s birds are free to scratch, peck and forage in grass filled paddocks and live off a natural diet of corn, grass and clover. Piddle Valley chickens live in small flocks and have plenty of room to stretch their wings and grow into the deliciously tender and succulent birds that they are.
