Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe

A sticky sweet sauce perfect for BBQs from our family farmhouse kitchen!

We suggest you may wish to double the quantities for a family meal – it’s rather divine!


  • 1 large Onion, skinned & chopped
  • 50g Butter/Margarine
  • 2 tbsps Vinegar
  • 2 tbsps Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Tomato Paste
  • 2 tbsps Demerara Sugar
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 150ml Water
  • 1 tsp Cornflour (mixed with 1 tbsp. water)



Fry onion in melted butter for approx. 5 minutes, until soft
Add tomato paste & continue stirring as you cook this for a further 3 mins
Mix the other ingredients together and add to the onion & tomato mix
Simmer gently for about 10 minutes

Stir in a little of the cornflour paste to thicken to your liking. Simmer for a further 2 minutes

This can be prepared ahead & reheated when you wish to serve it
